High Post-Foul
line area.
Influence-Defensively
force the ball to one side of the floor.
Low Post-area
within six feet of the basket.
Medium
Post-area
between high and low post.
One Man-point
guard.
Over Play-defensive
denial of pass.
Paint-foul
lane area.
Penetrate
and Kick-offensive
man drives into the lane and passed to
an open teammate.
Perimeter-the
area 15 to 20 feet from the basket.
Pick or
Screen-one
offensive player blocks the defender to
free another offensive player.
Pick and
Roll-two
man play where a screen is set for the
dribbler.
Pivot-movement
made while keeping one foot planted.
Pull
Through-crossing
the ball from one side of your body to
the other.
Short
corner-area
half way between the basket and the
corner.
Skip Pass-pass
made across the defense.
Square to
the Basket or Square Up-both
feet pointing in the direction of the
rim.
Strong
Side-the
side of the floor the ball is on.
Tandem-one
player lined up behind another.
Three Man-small
forward.
Trap-double
team of the man with the ball.
Two Man-shooting
guard.
Weak Side-the
side of the floor away from the ball.
Wing-area
behind the three point line and foul
line extended.
Zone
Defense-defense
where each player is responsible for an
area of the floor.
